Signup for the Apple Box, AFM's official e-newsletter packed with upcoming events, project updates, industry news & more! More Mail Info

This is Austin Film Meet's official e-newsletter. We send one out about once per week, typically on Sundays. Choose additional mail options including Event Reminders and Wordsmiths emails. To submit an event, project update or cast and crew call email me@austinfilmmeet.com.
The AFM Google Group is a forum for discussion among members, like questions about specific things and other discussion-type topics. You may submit emergency cast and crew calls that will be obselete when the next Apple Box newsletter goes out. Otherwise cast and crew calls should be submitted to the Apple Box.

Q. What happened to the Google Group?
A. The Austin Film Meet Google Group used to be our primary newsletter, however, we will be moving to a mail service for our weekly newsletter and the Google Group will become a forum for discussion and member support.
Q. If I was on the Google Group list, will I automatically be added to the new mailing list?
A. Yes, we will automatically add everyone who was on the Google Group list to prior to (date to be announced), however, if you added yourself to the Google Group after this date, you also will need to subscribe to our mail lists separately.
Q. How can I remove myself from the Google Group mailing list?
A. Google Groups offer three mail options. You can receive each mail as it is sent, or one daily digest, or a weekly digest or choose to receive no email but keep your account and login to check messages.
Q. I think I'm on this list. How did you get my email address?
A. You must have attended an Austin Film Meet event and selected the mail option on the sign-in sheet. We won't add you unless you do. Or maybe you signed up for the old newsletter
when we were on meetup.com.
Q. I don't want anymore mail. How do I stop it?
You have several options. Perhaps, you don't want everything but you still want to receieve
only our weekly newsletter, The Apple Box. Or you can unsubscribe from all mail. Access your settings.

So you wanna send a message to the entire Austin Film Meet mailing list. Okay, make sure you follow the advice below. We reserve the right to refuse any submission for any reason we deem appropriate. However, follow the advice below and we're much more likely to approve your message to the group. Thank you!
DO subscribe to the Austin Film Meet Google group. The sign up box is on the rightside of this page. You can select your perferred setting: receive every mail as it's sent out, receive one email daily, receive one email weekly or receive no email at all. You choose, but don't lose by not subscribing at all. http://groups.google.com/group/AustinFilmMeet
DO attend an Austin Film Meet meeting or event, as only "attending members" are allowed to post to this group. You are an "attending member" if you have attended one or more AFM events in the past 6 months.

DO make sure your subject line is short, sweet and to-the-point.
For example, if you've got a casting call for a film called Snot, your subject line might look like this: Snot - Casting Call. Or if you are sending a notice about a function or event, it should look like this: "Reel Women Meeting - 5/18". For date specific entries, please list the date in the subject. Avoid subject lines like this: "Super cool party this weekend needs extras and camera guy." Too many words, not to-the-point enough. This would also be bad: "How to Get Ahead in the Film Industry Workshop by Dana Smith on Monday, May 10th at 501 Studios." Instead, you should just put "Workshop - 5/10".
DO include as much information as possible about your project.
Of course the more information the better. Use these questions as a guideline for what info you should include. Items in bold are required.

DO NOT forget contact info.
Seems a lot of people forget this one. An email seems to get the most response, but we recommend including a phone number as well, and a website link if one applies.
DO NOT send more than one email per week about a particular event. You may send multiple emails provided that each new email have new infomormation.
So, if you think you're ready, you can submit your message to the group by sending your email directly to: austinfilmmeet@googlegroups.com. Thanks!
