Film makers wait in line at the Super Meetup

Austin Film Meet Events

For nearly two years we have hosted weekly events, however we have opted for fewer events in hopes that more people will attend,  making the events truly Texas-sized. Austin Film Meet now hosts monthly mixers, typically on the first Monday of the month.

Please check individual event notice for specific time and location. Locations vary based on event. All are welcome. Most events are FREE to attend, but donations are always appreciated.

    Dear Austin Flim Meet:

I’m living in hell. Literally. Hell.

I sold a feature length screenplay to a motion picture company in the 1980s and they never made the picture.

I went in to politics and except for getting elected once I’ve lost five other elections.

I publish a weekly newspaper which is in a financial abyss.

I have an actress who wants to be a big star but she refuses to work.

I started a fireworks retail business 26 years ago only to have the government shut it down because of “drought.”

I’ve written 25 short screenplays (4-20 minutes in length), figured I’d make my own short films, but I have no talent for organization.

I wrote a novel recently that almost everyone refuses to read. One lady read it in one day and said she couldn’t put it down. But nobody else will pick it up.

    Hell. By definition.

Do you know of anyone looking to read, or directors wanting to direct, or filmmakers wanting to film? No pay. Just hell.

    Sincerely,

    Douglas Kirk

Hey Douglas. Sounds like you need some good people to work with. It also sounds like you are used to working with teams. I’m an aspiring screenwriter/producer and I’m interested in finding out what your vision is. Contact me asap at zisinc@yahoo.com. Look forward to hearing from you.

I’m looking to find a few people interested in film. I am just an amateur with a few film ideas and a little bit of film equipment.

The equipment I have is a Canon Rebel T2I and an Adobe package including; Premiere, After Effects, Sound booth, Illustrator, Photoshop and Flash. Also I have a small homemade green screen studio with lighting and microphone.

I’d like to either join into an existing group or begin a group to discuss film topics/ideas and to actually film some of the ideas.

  4. Welcome Luke! Come on in. Take off your shoes. Stay awhile. I think you might post your request to the AFM Google Group Listserv and Facebook pages: http://www.austinfilmmeet.com/aboutafm/how-to-promote-your-event-to-austin-film-meet-members. I have a feeling you’ll get more responses through one of those avenues. Anyway, hope this helps. Hope to see you on Oct 3rd!

    Hello,

We’re starting up a new film festival at Lake Travis and I’m spreading the word…

New Film Fest – No Entry Fees!!!

The Lake Travis Film Fest is about to go live! The plan is to screen films all year long on Saturday nights, with a long term goal of screening films throughout the week.

We’re accepting submissions and waiving the entry fees to the filmmakers temporarily! Any genre, shorts or feature length. We WILL be charging fees in the very near future, so contact us right away and we’ll email you an entry form.

Submission Forms are available on the website:

    http://www.laketravisfilmfest.com/

This is starting out small, but we will be registered with withoutabox.com and that means that, if your film is selected, your cast and crew will be eligible for IMDB professional credits for everyone credited in your film.

We will start out screening films in the lobby at “The Village at Northlake” on the North Shore of Lake Travis 18700 RM 1431. Don’t delay! Send in your films in ASAP!

For more information, please email us at: entries@mail.com
