Open Audition Night – Multiple productions, all actors welcome

When: Wed Sept 12, 6:00pm
Where: Austin ISD Performing Arts Center
Pay Status: Unpaid

Prepare 30 sec monologue.

Austin public schools have some of the most robust film programs in the state. 11 of the 14 high schools offer A/V classes, and most of those focus on digital cinema. The students cultivated in these programs have produced amazing screenplays, shorts films, and features on par with industry professionals and winning awards at SXSW, Austin Film Festival and other events.

We are inviting area actors to audition for our student writers and directors in one collective event where each high school will be represented. The talent at the audition may be cast in this year’s films.

Each actor will prepare a 30 sec monologue that will also be recorded on video. (Young children may sing a song or tell us what happens in their favorite movie, etc.) We will keep all actor information in a database. When it comes time to write and cast, the students may have specific actors in mind. They will reach out at a later date for possible casting. If an actor does not get cast at present, it is very likely that they may be contacted at a future date.

You may send a headshot and resume to us beforehand, but it is not required. vanessa.mokry@austinisd.org
