The Canon 1D Mark IV Can See In The Dark

If you thought the Canon 5D MKII was great for video, and now the new Canon 7d… Well, it’s only getting better.

Next in line is the Canon 1D MKIV, and *oh-boy* I’m excited. With a 1.3x crop factor, it shoots 1080p video at both 30fps and 24fps. How could it get better? Well, the 1D MKIV can shoot in *super* low light with very little grain.
Don’t believe me? Vincent Laforet just shot a short film with a prototype of the new camera at an unbelievable 6400 ISO. And he shot it with all available lighting. At night. According to his blog, the camera can see better in low light than his own eyes.
The video was posted on his website, but Canon requested that it be taken down. Luckily, nothing really disappears on the internet. Someone has posted another version on YouTube. It’s not HD, but I’m sure we’ll be able to see it in full resolution soon. For now, just take in the awesomeness…
