Submit short films to the Reels Accelerator program.
This focused, fast-paced writing lab is designed to take you from idea to completed short film script in just 4 weeks, with free submission to the Actor-Filmmaker Reels Accelerator Program.
Each 2-hour class blends timed writing sprints, collaborative peer feedback, and the flexibility to write from your own idea or choose from one of our carefully crafted, production-ready prompts. You’ll write one script each night, working in sprint writing sessions, developing and reviewing scenes in a structured, supportive environment that keeps your creativity flowing and your momentum strong.
All scripts are written with micro- or no-budget local production in mind, making them perfect for indie filmmakers, writer-directors, or anyone looking to create work that can be brought to life quickly and affordably.
Participants will have the option to submit their finished scripts for potential production as part of our Actor-Filmmaker Collaborator Accelerator Reels Program. While there’s no guarantee a script will be chosen, submissions are limited, so the odds are in your favor.
Apply as a filmmaker in our Actor-Filmmaker Collaborator Accelerator Reels Program, and if accepted, you’ll have the option to direct your own screenplay. It’s a unique opportunity to bring your words to life on set, collaborate with actors, and gain hands-on experience directing with the support of a creative team. About the Instructor — H. Cherdon Bedford
H. Cherdon is an award-winning screenwriter, director, and creative coach with nearly two decades of experience in independent film, television, and commercial production. She is the founder of Austin Film Meet, a vibrant creative community serving indie filmmakers and actors across Central Texas and beyond.
Her short screenplay Ambient Light has received wide acclaim, winning multiple top awards including Programmer’s Choice Best of Festival at the Waco Indie Film Festival, Best Relationship Drama Screenplay at the Austin Short Film Festival, Best Drama Screenplay at the Austin After Dark Film Festival, Best Short Drama Screenplay at the Austin International Film Festival, and Best Short Script at both the Golden Lion and Top Indie Film Awards.
With a lifelong background in performance and a deep passion for storytelling, Cherdon brings creative insight, industry know-how, and infectious enthusiasm to every class she leads.
