In addition to providing a great place to meet, Joe’s has generously offered our event attendees 10% OFF food purchases. But wait, there’s more… they’ve also offered us the ability to order from the lunch menu. That means big savings! Please express your thanks to Brandon, the Manager at Joe’s Crab Shack by ordering something and tipping your server. Thank you for supporting our Sponsor!

WHY:

Reading scripts will make you a better writer! We are certain someone has proved it somewhere. For writers, submitting scripts for feedback at this event will help you get a wide range of opinions from a lot of different people. Take it all in stride, but remember that repeating patterns can help you spot areas needing improvement.

WHO:

Screenwriters, and writers for screen. This event is open to anyone with an interest in writing for the motion arts including film, television, web or commercial. Everyone attends this event for FREE in July.

Visit our Wordsmiths Facebook Group to join the discussion about event locations, scripts and more.

HOW IT WORKS:

Bring 2-4 printed copies of your script. At the beginning of the event, scripts are distributed to readers, who are asked to read at least 10 pages of each script, and complete a short survey to help generate constructive feedback that writers can use to improve their scripts. Scripts in all stages and formats are welcome. When you arrive sign-in, turn in your scripts and you will be given a script to read and a critique form to help guide your feedback. Please do not write in the scripts themselves. When finished readers may turn in the script & feedback form for another script. At the end, forms and scripts are returned to the writers. Generally, most people hang around and discuss the scripts in more details.

We welcome scripts in all stages and formats. Beginning and experienced writers are welcome.

Readers without scripts are also welcome as we always need readers and a lot can be learned from reading. Hope you can join us!
