Actor/Director Workshop with Paula Russell Weds 11am-3pm Jan 7th –Feb 25th
South Lamar Studio
Class size is limited: only 4 spaces left, so reserve soon.
Paula taught acting in Los Angeles in association with Emmy award winning actor/director Joan Darling for 15 years. She has been a professional coach for 30 years, incorporating Meisner, Adler, Hagen, Bobby Lewis, Joan Darling and On-Camera Techniques for today’s actor. She’s a long standing member of SAG/AFTRA and Actors Equity.
Because acting is like an athletic event requiring discipline, focus and skill, the first hour includes Relaxation specifically for actors and ensemble improv exercises designed to raise all of your work to a higher level in a playful, supportive environment.
Find that still and magic place within that lights up a screen or stage! “An actor should be a volcano in a completely relaxed body.” Michael Chekov.
Customized to individual actors. Work on what you most want/need. Acting for film, stage, commercials, monologs; interview and audition techniques; in depth scene study and character work. Workshop original material, musical performance, or prepare for a specific role or creative project. If you don≠t have a project, you will be encouraged to study and work on great writers to stretch yourself as an artist. And learn to tell a good joke!

Kate Blanchett: “I don’t understand a way to work other than bold-facedly running towards failure. I think it’s always good to take on things that at first seem bigger than you. Then you just try and surmount them.” Class is for taking risks, digging deep and falling on your ass in a nurturing environment where your personal life is never invaded.
