Seeking Associate Producer
Description: Associate Producer, Fault Lines. The successful candidate will assist producers, including planning shoots, arranging travel, accommodation and equipment, booking contributors, researching interviews and recruiting freelance staff. S/he must have thorough knowledge of international news and Al Jazeera’s aims.
Key responsibilities:
Research proposals for documentary programs.
Assist producer in production of programs, including planning shoots, arranging travel, accommodation and equipment, booking contributors, researching interviews and recruiting freelance staff
Assist producer in the field, including directing camera and technical crews, conducting interviews as required and directing presenters
Assist producer in structuring and scripting specially shot footage, archive material and graphics into exciting and informative programs, working closely with video editors.
Assist producers in preparing Program as Completed forms for each documentary magazine segment to document sourcing and rights information
Education:
An undergraduate degree is required
Experience:
Minimum 1-2 years’ experience in TV or related fields as Researcher and/or Assistant Producer on factual programs
Skills:
Directing and producing factual programs in the field
Researching, booking and conducting pre-interviews and interviews
Structuring long-form narratives
Scriptwriting
Project planning
Knowledge:
Wide knowledge of current affairs
Wide, up to date knowledge of documentaries.
Knowledge of mission, format and editorial direction of channel programs,
Knowledge of AJ news systems (Octopus, news browse) and workflow desirable
Knowledge of one or more languages other than English is desirable
Knowledge of camera-work, lighting, and media-management desirable.
