Have you ever wanted to make your own film but you don’t know where to start? Maybe you are an actor and you have thought about shooting your own film, or you are a writer and you have a screenplay that is begging to be shot? Are you a born director who has always thought about making movies but just didn’t know how to go about it?

Indie Filmmaking For Beginners is a fun class taught by Scot Michael Walker and it will teach you what you need to know to produce a film and get it into film festivals.

Topics covered include: writing/obtaining a screenplay, financing your film, location scouting, script breakdown, scheduling via strips, hiring crew, casting call, auditions, call sheets, shot lists, direction, audio, editing basics, film festivals, distribution.

Scot Michael Walker has won numerous awards as a filmmaker from several film festivals including Beverley Hills Film Festival, Hollywood Screenplay Contest, Bare Bones Film Festival, Austin Indie Flix Showcase, and Fort Worth Indie Film Showcase. He has produced an award winning feature film that has worldwide distribution, several shorts, and an award-winning web series. He has extensive experience producing films while wearing many hats during the process.

Fee $50 for STAGE members/$70 for non.

The 5-session course will include a casting call exercise where the class is divided into groups and will write 1-2 pages of sides, post a casting call, and then implement an audition.
