Read more about the instructor:
Moore is a former faculty member of Act One Studios, (now disbanded), which was for years the Midwest’s largest commercial acting studio. She has created a program that is extremely close to Meisner’s program. Sydney is one of a quickly shrinking group of second-generation Meisner instructors in the United States. She has the experience and the edge of New York training, combined with the intricate knowledge of “ensemble acting” that is the breeding ground for the intensely personal and riveting performances so many of Chicago’s actors are noted for.
Sydney Moore has worked side-by-side, and trained with many of Steppenwolf’s ensemble members including Austin Pendleton and Rondi Reed. She has also worked and trained with Steve Scott at The Goodman Theatre, David Cromer/Columbia College (Directing), Jim Ortlieb at The Chicago Actor’s Project, Wisdom Bridge, Victory Gardens, The Organic Theatre, The Second City/Chicago, Famous Door, Strawdog, Oracle, and The Curious Theatre Branch/Jenny Magnus and Beau O’Reilly. She is a Jeff recommended actress onstage and has a penchant for independent films that land at festivals around the world–the most recent being Joe Otting’s, The Third Rail that went all the way to the Cannes Film Festival in 2012. Moore also writes, directs and makes independent films. Her favorite pastime…bringing live theatre, film, and original music together. Recent Directing credits include Judith’s Thompson’s The Crackwalker (Oracle), and John Patrick Shanley’s, The Big Funk (The Chicago Women’s Theatre Alliance) and John Mighton’s, The Little Years (Act One Studios). She is currently in preproduction for Ten Unknown’s, by John Robin Baits.
