Summary:
“Night at the Club” is seeking a diverse group of female actors and dancers for a short film. The script and movement will be developed in rehearsals leading up to the shoot; all performers will also be movement consultants and will collaborate with the film’s director and choreographer(s). The film presents strippers through a feminist lens, aiming to undo harmful sex worker tropes that pervade our media. There is no nudity. The dancers in this film will not perform like strippers from any other show or film, rather, movement vocabulary will be developed in support of the development of the characters.
Characters:
Four roles are available for performers able to portray women ages 18-40. People of color are strongly encouraged to audition. Characters are subject to develop based on casting. Paid opportunity. Dance experience required.
Rehearsals:
Rehearsals will be two days per week through November and into early December. There will be a break for the holidays, and rehearsals will restart no later than January 5. Those traveling for the holidays must return by January 5th in order to be eligible for this project.
Audition:
Sunday, October 29th, 12:00p – 5:00p
UT – Austin (F. Loren Winship Bldg.)
