Synopsis: Lonely in the wake of her mother’s remarriage, Nadine befriends a creature living in the lake by her house.
Character Breakdowns:
NADINE (female, 11-14): Used to being her mother’s best friend and confidant, she’s become withdrawn as she tries to find her place in her mother’s new life. In Sela she believes she’s found someone who truly understands her. [Must be able to swim]
SELA (female, 14-16): Originally a human girl, now decidedly inhuman. Sela has lived a lonely life in the lake for years, but sees something of herself in Nadine and tries to befriend her. Inviting and charming, but evasive about the mysteries of her past – and the truth of her intentions. [Must be able to swim and willing to do rehearsed low risk stunts in the water]
DOMINIC (Nadine’s stepfather, late 20s to early 30s): A well meaning guy who always wanted a family – but never expected to inherit a teenage daughter. He’s earnestly trying to connect with Nadine but doesn’t quite know what he’s doing.
