Award-winning director, Ya’Ke, is casting for his latest film, Brother.
Teenagers Jason and Caleb have been friends for the better part of a decade, but when Caleb’s older brother Casey returns home from prison, his racist ideology threatens to destroy their bond.
Auditions will be held in Austin on Tuesday, July 16th from 6pm-10pm and are by appointment only. There will also be 1-2 rehearsals the weeks leading up to the shoot. We are casting for the following roles:
Jason – African-American – Character portrayed is 16-years old. Jason is a teenage jokester with a whip smart comeback. He’s the sometimes encouraging, sometimes annoying, but always protective brother-from-another-mother to Caleb. They’ve been friends for as long as he can remember and nothing can destroy their bond…until now.
Caleb – White – Character portrayed is 16-years old. Jason’s friendly rival and surrogate younger brother. He loves video games, wrestling and is the kid that is both easy to tease and love at the same time. He and Jason are “bros” and they do everything together. Caleb’s brother has been in prison for the better part of a decade and throughout that time, he’s kept a close relationship with him, and wants nothing more than to make him proud.
CASEY – White – late 20’s – early 30’s. Casey has been in and out of trouble since he was a teenager, and prison has been his home since he was 17. He went in a young boy looking for love and has returned a hardened man whose manipulative and racist identity has become not only a badge of honor, but a way of life.
