SAG-AFTRA Austin Actors Conservatory Presents: Improv for Auditions
with Casting Director Barbara Divisek and Director, Photographer, Actor, Teacher Ray Bengston
This workshop is back by popular demand! Gain a clear understanding of how to apply improv to the audition process by:
- Working on your “where” and being specific
- Creating believable characters while fully committing to character choices
- Making use of “yes and” while keeping denial out
- Staying true to the moment
- Understanding to not go for the joke or steal the scene
- Being able to spontaneously react to direction given to you in audition situations

About Barbara Divisek:
Divisek owns one of the most successful casting companies in Hollywood. With more than 4200 projects under her belt, Divisek’s clients include: The Coen Brothers, Jon Singleton, Barry Sonnenfeld, American Express, Coca-Cola, UPS, Disney, Mercedes, and Target. In 2010 Divisek cast the award winning film, Return to The Hiding Place, then produced and cast Alone Yet Not Alone and To Have And To Hold. Divisek also casts episodic TV and has three TV shows in development, plus a new feature film project entitled Eternal.
About Ray Bengston:
For more than 40 years Bengston has been one of the most sought after headshot and celebrity photographers in the industry. He is known for his ability to put his subjects at ease and capture truly beautiful, unique and spirited images. Bengston has photographed events for SAG-AFTRA and DGA over four decades. He recently directed Alone Yet Not Alone and To Have And To Hold and is currently in development on several TV and film projects. While in development, Bengston can’t stay away from his first love – teaching and photography.
