Reneaux Ruffin – Director & Producer
Reneaux’s interest in storytelling began at a young age through video games, anime, and fantasy TV shows. Always fascinated with human interaction and the ideas that drive people, he started to create stories and comics. As time went on, other mediums like poetry and music became extensions of his storytelling process until film and television moved to the forefront in high school. This push to understand and create thought-provoking and inspiring TV led him to study Mass Communications at Grambling State University. From there, he moved his focus out of journalism and news to focus on dramatic writing at the Savannah College of Art & Design, where he obtained his Master of Fine Arts. When he’s not wandering around his own head for his next idea, he likes playing tennis, relaxing with family, and cooking up bewitching meals. www.eyeofshadows.com
Aliverdi Aliverdizada – Director of Photography
Aliverdi Aliverdizada is an Austin-based filmmaker whose work spans narrative films, music videos, and commercial projects. He began his creative journey in 2010 as a street photographer, where close observation of everyday life shaped his sensitivity to composition, rhythm, and human behavior. In 2013, he transitioned into filmmaking, bringing that documentary instinct into cinematic storytelling.
Working primarily as a solo filmmaker, Aliverdi oversees directing, cinematography, editing, sound, and color correction, allowing for a cohesive visual and emotional language throughout his work. His background in music videos and commercial filmmaking has strengthened his ability to balance strong visual style with clear storytelling, adapting cinematic techniques to serve both artistic vision and practical production needs.
Originally from Azerbaijan, Aliverdi immigrated to the United States in 2015 and later relocated to Austin in 2023. His personal experience as an immigrant informs much of his narrative work, which often explores themes of identity, displacement, masculinity, and belonging. Influenced by both Eastern and Western cinematic traditions, he gravitates toward long takes, minimal dialogue, and atmosphere-driven storytelling that emphasizes internal states over exposition.
Largely self-taught through extensive practice, film literature, and selective masterclasses, Aliverdi approaches filmmaking as both a craft and a form of inquiry. His work aims to capture emotionally honest moments and quiet tensions, using cinema as a space for reflection, connection, and human observation.
